Of recent I’ve really got my grasp upon the term “investment piece”. Gone are the days where I fritter my money away on the “in trend” only to throw them out the following season. Rather than seeking for a fashion fling I’ve been looking for a long term romance, something that will stand the test of time.
I think that fashtionista heaven is getting that tricky balance between highstreet and designer well integrated, but it’s something that takes practice. Achieving the eye to determine a designer dud and a designer classic may mean you need to kiss a few frogs before you find your stand the test of time fashion piece gold. Hopefully I can give you the know how to find the perfect Spring Staple.
Seeing that spring is well on the way I thought it be a great to style a beautiful Alexander Mcqueen scarf. I think an item like this is truly iconic, and this berry colour is perfect for providing a pop of colour into any outfit. Worn loosely around the neck or as a bag accessory this is a beautiful statement investment piece. Styling this scarf there are some trends reflected in my montage that going to be everywhere this spring.
Monochrome- Whether it’since Kayne has been dressing Kim Kardashian monocrome is set to be prevalent this spring. Try it out with an edgey aztec design or something more sophisticated like the rose print skater dress. The wonderful aspect of monochrome is it is flattering no matter what your skin tone, hair colour or body shape, there really is something for everyone when rocking monochrome.
Denim Jacket- Now this is a trend worth investing in because it returns year on year. There’s been some beautiful embellished jackets about since Autumn season and they are set to stay over spring time. When that spring evening sets in be sure to carry your denim jacket with you when the sun goes down.
Classic Black Bag- Regardless of season the black bag is here to stay. I couldn’t help but pay hommage to the ever popular Zara Office blogger it bag in my out to lunch ensemble.
The midi- Whether its midi dress or skirt midis are such a womanly piece of tailoring. Accentuating the curves a midi is always a sophisticated daytime or evening choice. Dress it down with flats or crank it up with heels this is a great transitional piece. I have already spied some great nautical midis gracing the high street that are going to work just perfectly with a denim jacket. Effortless and simplistic. Perfect.
Skater Skirts- I love skater skirts for their cross season appeal. Wear with tights or bare legs theres nothing better than a feminine skater skirt to add a bit of flirtyness to an outfit. Tuck in a jumper or t-shirt or bare your mid-riff with a cute croptop and heels for an evening look. I really think my acid wash example it screams springtime
Trainers- Vans and blazers were huge last season and continue to be a huge part of the essential springtime wardrobe. Love or loathe them I promise once you go to the lengths of trying them on you will wonder why it ever took so long to convert. They are effortless and a bright pair can add another dimension to any outfit. Wear with jeggings, skirts even a casual midi dress they will win you over. Take it from a girl who knows.
