Oasis is a well-known and long standing British High Street name synonymous with soft tailoring and feminine clothes. They specialise in work wear and occasion dresses so I wouldn’t advise them if you’re looking for comfy college clothes. Think ‘intern’; young professional meets girl about town.

Their fabrics are reflective of the brand values, soft chiffon and feminine lace meets stiff cotton. Tailoring is the word of the day but with a relaxed feel that suits the younger woman, when using strong colours the silhouettes remain ‘loose’ to keep everything in soft focus. You could easily pick out a bridesmaid’s dress here, or a wedding [guest] outfit. They stock sizes 06 – 18 although the majority of their stock does stop at a size 16.
Oasis stock a good range of prints [often floral], again keeping that feminine vibe which they showcase against block colours, often muted … think greys in winter and peach for spring. For spring/summer 2013 they offer us a playful ‘Lily of the Valley’ type campaign featuring balloons, bubbles, a bicycle and flowers in bloom. Watch it HERE.

If you’re based in an office and get bored of wearing suits and dark colours, Oasis could be your one-stop-shop to fashion forward work wear. You’ll be able to build a wardrobe that translates from day to night easily, gives you a sophisticated and ‘take me seriously’ work style with a feminine edge. Their price range does mean they are often overlooked by young professionals – it is not uncommon to pay £70 for a dress – but their pieces will last well and do look expensive. If this does push your budget, keep your eyes peeled for sales as prices are often halved. Due to their ‘effortless style’ it won’t matter if pieces are worn out of season.

Oasis do great trousers for work which often feature their seasonal prints, they usually have matching jackets and make great suits for work. Similarly, the jackets and trousers can separately be toned down with a t-shirt and flats so you really do get a versatile wardrobe.
Oasis also sells shoes and bags if you want to go the ‘whole hog’ in one trip. Everything is available in one place – which is not only convenient, but again a quality choice. They are big fans of leather and understand that accessories must stand the test of time. Their coats and jackets are softly tailored and made with comfort in mind. They are easy to layer and create a cohesive look when paired with their other garments.
Overall, if you are looking to step up your wardrobe, take your career to the next level or just start making more of an effort – there couldn’t be a better place to do it. Fashion forward styling meets Parisienne Chic in a ‘wear me forever and hand me down’ style.
